Avril Lavigne may not spend too much time weeping after announcing her split from her husband of two years, Chad Kroeger. A source close to the Canadian singer says, "Honestly, she's doing OK." While the news may shock some fans, the source claims, "This has been in the works for awhile," but they needed some time to figure out how to break the news.

The so-called insider goes on claiming that the breakup is amicable. "Chad is being supportive," the insider tells E! News. "At the end of the day, they just didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things. ... Their friends and their social circles never really mixed."

The source adds that the former couple "talked about having kids but it just never happened." The insider further dishes on what caused the separation, "They originally got together to make an album and that's where the spark between them originated. But it just slowly died out."

Revealing the 30-year-old singer's condition, the source says, "Avril is still sick, so she's not working much - just here and there. It's been a tough year. But these days, she's living in L.A. and has a very close, supportive group of friends. She's focused on her recovery but she knows it's going to take time."

Avril took to her Instagram on September 2 to announce her separation from Chad. "It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today," she wrote. "Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support."

Avril was previously married to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley, who recently married Ariana Cooper, from 2006 to 2010. It was the first marriage for Chad.
