Vin Diesel Teases 'The Iron Giant' Sequel
Movie

The 'Fast and Furious' star took to social media to give hint that the 1999 animated film would possibly get a follow-up.

Warner Bros. recently released the first trailer for "The Iron Giant: Signature Edition", a new Blu-Ray release of Brad Bird's 1999 animated film "The Iron Giant". Shortly after the trailer debuted, Vin Diesel, the actor who played the titular character, took to social media to tease that the film would get a sequel.

Diesel uploaded the trailer on his Facebook page along with a caption which indicated that Warner Bros. was already planning the second film. "Don't be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel," read the caption. He also admitted that the enormous robot was one of the first and one of his favorite characters he'd ever played.

"The Iron Giant" fans may be pleased as the idea seems to be legitimate, because when Diesel teases something on social media, it usually turns out to be true. It's like what he did when he was about to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Groot in "Guardians of the Galaxy".

I have been very lucky to have played so many interesting characters... one of the first and one of my favorites is... the Iron Giant.P.s. Don't be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel.

The original movie centers on a 9-year-old boy, Hogarth, who discovers a giant alien robot (Diesel) in the woods near his house. The two get along very well and develop a friendship. When a paranoid government agent, Kent Mansley, determines to destroy the robot, Hogarth and his friend Dean McCoppin (Harry Connick Jr.) must do what they can to save the giant machine.

However, it's unclear if the voice cast members such as Diesel, Connick Jr., Jennifer Aniston, Cloris Leachman and Christopher McDonald will return to the possible sequel.
