NBC is turning "Red". The Peacock is developing a series based on the 2010 hit action movie starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich among others.

According to Deadline, it will be an hour-long drama following the core concept of the 2010 film and its 2013 sequel. It will center on "Retired Extremely Dangerous" operatives and their "darkly hilarious struggles to survive civilian life as they simultaneously fight for and against the very organization that threw them out."

The movie's scribes Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber will write the TV series which takes on "a more grounded and authentic world." The Hoeber brothers will also executive produce alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian.

"Red" experienced success as a sleeper hit, grossing $200 million worldwide. It was inspired by Warren Ellis-Cully Hamner comic series of the same name.
