AceShowbiz - Frank Gifford, the husband of "Today" anchor Kathie Lee Gifford, famed sportscaster and former New York Giants football player, died of natural causes at his home in New Haven, Connecticut on Sunday, August 9. He was 84. His family confirmed the sad news in a statement.
"It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and friend, Frank Gifford. Frank died suddenly this beautiful Sunday morning of natural causes at his Connecticut home," the statement read, "We rejoice in the extraordinary life he was privileged to live, and we feel grateful and blessed to have been loved by such an amazing human being. We ask that our privacy be respected at this difficult time and we thank you for your prayers."
Kathie tweeted her thanks for outpouring support after the news of her husband's passing broke. "Deeply grateful to all 4 ur outpouring of grace. We r steadfast in our faith & finding comfort in knowing where Frank is. Phillippians 4:13," she wrote.
The Gifford family close friends with the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner's daughter Kendall Jenner is Frank's goddaughter. Kendall paid tribute to his godfather on Twitter, writing, "Very sad day. Rest in Peace to my Godfather. The legend, Frank Gifford."

Frank, who was born on August 16, 1930 in Southern California, played for 12 years for New York Giants. He was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977. He became successful sportscaster after retiring from the field.
Besides Kathie, Frank is also survived by the couple's two kids son Cody, 25, and daughter Cassidy, 22. He is also a father to three other children Jeff, Kyle and Victoria from his previous marriage to Maxine Avis and grandfather to five grandchildren.
