AceShowbiz - Divorcing after 13 years of marriage, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale continue focusing on their kids, 9-year-old Kingston, 6-year-old Zuma, and 1-year-old Apollo. "Their priority is making sure they maintain a safe and secure home for their children regardless of what's happening," a source close to Stefani informed PEOPLE.
"When you're separated and have kids, you're much more emotionally invested," added the source. "Knowing how she is as a mom, her top priority is making sure her kids feel secure and comforted during the process."
Another source, meanwhile, was quoted as telling PEOPLE that "the kids always come first" though both Stefani, 45, and Rossdale, 49, have busy schedules. The source stated, "This is not a family that mostly relies on nannies. Gwen and Gavin are great parents and mostly handle school drop-offs and pick-ups themselves. Gavin is a jokester and often has the boys doubled over with laughter and Gwen is very nurturing. She often shows up to afternoon business meetings with Apollo napping in a baby carrier."
Stefani and Rossdale issued a joint statement Monday, August 3, confirming that they're separating. "While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment. To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time," so read the statement. Both stars reportedly have no prenuptials agreement and are seeking joint custody of their sons.
In the meantime, TMZ reported that Stefani wanted a divorce because she believed Rossdale had cheated on her. She was said to be complaining about him "being away from home too much, touring with his band Bush from December 2014 through March 2015. One source says Gwen put pressure on him to stop touring and stay home. For his part, he felt she was hypocritical because she was on the road too."
