AceShowbiz - "Transparent" gets an early renewal for third season. The scripted series about a father who comes out as a transgender, Maura Pfefferman, is picked up for season 3 by Amazon. The announcement is made months before the second chapter which is scheduled to debut later this fall.
"I am so thrilled that I get to share more of the Pfeffermans' story with the world," creator Jill Soloway says. "We are all so in love with watching them change and grow. I am blown away by the creative freedom Amazon gives me and I can't wait to reveal where this journey is going to take us."
The show has picked up numerous awards including two Golden Globes, Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy and Best Actor for the lead star Jeffrey Tambor. The story itself was inspired by Soloway's own transgender father.
While continuing to serve as a showrunner on "Transparent", Soloway is signed on to create new projects for Amazon. "Jill is truly a creative force and I'm thrilled that we will be collaborating with her additional projects in the future and on a third season of Transparent," says Roy Price, Vice President, Amazon Studios.
