Garrett Wareing has joined the cast of 'Independence Day' sequel as a boy who seeks protection from aliens attack.

Garrett Wareing, who starred opposite Dustin Hoffman and Kathy Bates in "Boychoir", has signed up for "Independence Day" sequel. He will play a boy who seeks refuge with the first family when the aliens attack the Earth.
The film is set to take place 20 years after the 1996 blockbuster. When the aliens were defeated in the first movie, a distress call was sent to bring reinforcements to Earth. Focusing on a new generation of human heroes, the film will feature a mixture of new and old faces. Bill Pullman, who played President Thomas J. Whitmore in the first film, will make an appearance. Judd Hirsch will also be brought back to the film as Julius Levinson.
Sela Ward is tapped to portray President of the United States, Lanford, while Vivica A. Fox, Jeff Goldblum and Brent Spiner return to reprise their respective roles. Dean Devlin, Roland Emmerich and Harald Kloser produce the movie while James A. Woods and Nicolas Wright wrote the most recent draft. The sequel currently titled "ID Forever Part 1" is slated to hit U.S. theaters on June 24, 2016.
