Details Announced for B.B. King's Public Viewing, Memorial, and Funeral Services

The late blues musician will likely be buried next week in Indianola, a Mississippi town less than 20 miles from his birthplace of Berclair where he picked cotton as a boy.

AceShowbiz - A public viewing and private service for family members of the late B.B. King will be held this coming Friday, May 22 at Palm Mortuary West in Las Vegas. Mortuary manager Matthew Phillips confirmed there wouldn't be be a memorial service during viewing, but people would be able to see King's open casket. The viewing is set to be held from 3 to 7 P.M. with a private memorial service for family and close friends planned for 9:30 - 10:50 A.M. and a service officiated by Pam Mason set for 11 A.M.

A private funeral will be held the following day, May 23 at 11 A.M. at a larger Palm Mortuary chapel in downtown Las Vegas. King's youngest daughter, Claudette, shared information regarding the matter through a short message on her Facebook account. "HELLO ALL. Thank you everyone for your well wishes. My dad's service is next Saturday, May 23rd in Las Vegas. Lying in state Friday, May 22, 2015. More later," so read her post.

At the time of writing, arrangements are still in the making for a funeral and burial next week in Indianola, Mississippi. Though details for King's funeral and burial have not been finalized, his attorney has indicated the late blues musician will likely be returned to Indianola, a Mississippi town less than 20 miles from his birthplace of Berclair where he picked cotton as a boy.

B.B. King passed away peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 P.M. PDT last Thursday, May 14 at his home in Las Vegas. He was 89 years old.
