George Miller Reveals 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Sequel Will Be Titled 'The Wasteland'

The director revealed that the follow-up to the Tom Hardy-starring movie will get 'Wasteland' in the title, but he has not mapped out the storyline just yet.

AceShowbiz - Director George Miller has already confirmed a "Mad Max: Fury Road" sequel with Tom Hardy. When being interviewed on "The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith", the director revealed that the follow-up would be titled "Mad Max: The Wasteland".

"We've got one screenplay and a novella," Miller explained. "It happened because, with the delays [on 'Fury Road'] and writing all the backstories, they just expanded." Though so, Miller said that he had no storyboarding for the sequel just yet. "No, no, no. I just finished this movie ['Fury Road'] 12 days ago! I said to someone it's like asking a woman who has just given birth, 'When are you having your next baby?' " he said.

What Miller just said was a little bit different to what he said years ago. He intially pointed out that "Mad Max" would be a trilogy and the second installment would center on one of its characters and the title of the sequel would be "Mad Max: Furiosa". "We've written the script for the second and almost finished the third. We never intended to, they were part of the exploration of the characters," Miller said back in 2011.

Meanwhile, someone claiming to be Miller appeared on Twitter and confirmed that there would be more "Mad Max" movies. "Hello Twitter! Thanks for all the kind words written and said about the film. We had a lot of fun making it..and there's more Max to come," the tweet read. However, this account is not verified so it is not reliable.
