Born of Irish and Italian heritage and was raised as a Catholic, Lindsay Lohan was spotted carrying a copy of the Quran during an outing in Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday, May 13. Speculation began spreading like wild fire about whether the troubled entertainer is currently learning or turning to Islam.

Photo of Lindsay carrying Quran emerged as she finished a day of office work at the Duffield Children's Center in the Fort Greene neighborhood to start her first day of court-ordered community service. She snuck in the back door of the community center to avoid awaiting reporters and fans who'd gathered to catch a glimpse of her.

In her past years, Lindsay has shown an interest in various religions, naming one most famous was Kabbalah. During the height of her fame, she wore a Kabbalah red string bracelet, which was said to ward off misfortune brought about by the "evil eye." Besides, she was rumored to be attending Kabbalah classes. Back in 2012, she reportedly joined Courtney Love's Buddhist chanting group.

Lindsay, in fact, has described herself as a "very spiritual person" in a docu-series with Oprah Winfrey last year. "I'm a very spiritual person and I've become more spiritual as time has gone on,' she told the talk show host," she claimed. "I'm really in touch, whether it's prayer or meditation... there are so many powers greater than me in the world. I've been blessed and lucky enough to have been given a gift to share with other people."
