New tidbits about One Direction's new album were revealed by Liam Payne. During an interview with the U.K.'s Capital FM earlier this week, the singer assured fans that the group's fifth studio effort, and their first without recently-departed member Zayn Malik, was "coming together really well."

He also teased how the project would sound like, saying there would be songs that might remind listeners of Oasis. "The boys we've been writing with have come up with some great, great songs that are kind of like a bit Oasis-y almost which is ace," he said. "I love that."

Payne further told Capital FM that he and the other 1D members wanted a timeless album similar to Ed Sheeran's. "The songs are coming out a bit more chill because I think we want this to be quite a long-lasting album that you can listen to anytime," he explained. "You know, like how Ed's album, any time you throw on an Ed song, it always makes sense. We're trying to do that."

The new One Direction album, currently untitled, is scheduled for release later this year. Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson began working on the follow-up to last year's "FOUR" earlier this month.

The boys are now taking a break from their massive "On the Road Again" world tour. They'll continue the tour with a string of European shows in June before bringing it to North America in July.
