'American Idol' Recap: Joey Cook Is Eliminated as Rayvon Owen Keeps Dodging Elimination
TV

Rayvon, hence, joins Tyanna Jones, Clark Beckham, Jax, Nick Fradiani and Quentin Alexander in the Top 6 following their double performances of 'American Classics.'

AceShowbiz - "American Idol" Top 7 were back on stage Wednesday, April 15 to sing what viewers picked as "American Classics." Each of the finalists sang twice, and the first to perform was Tyanna Jones, meaning she's safe.

She sang "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" which Keith Urban called "an interesting song choice." He, however, didn't think the song suit Tyanna's vocals. Jennifer Lopez wanted Tyanna to get back into the groove, while Harry Connick Jr. wanted to see more movement.

Later in the second part of the show, Tyanna took on "Proud Mary". Harry said, "That was as close to perfect as it gets." Keith believes Tyanna's "going to be astronomical from here forward," and J.Lo added, "That is what you should do every single time."

Clark Beckham sang "Superstitions" and J.Lo was glad that he took a little bit of her advice. Harry said it was good and he had no critique, while Keith said Clark did the right thing by not following the judges' advice to ditch his guitar.

Clark also performed "Moon River". J.Lo dubbed it "smooth and creamy," Harry told him to learn more chords to separate him from a cocktail singer, while Keith described the performance as being "warm and fuzzy like an epidural."

Jax picked "Piece of My Heart" for her first performance that night. Harry said Jax's rendition was in the middle of Janis Joplin's version and Erma Franklin's, but he liked it. Keith liked that Jax sang well with the band, and J.Lo called it "a really great performance."

Jax's second song was "Beat It". Harry said his favorites parts were the static electricity in Jax's hair and when he ran around the stage like an idiot. J.Lo agreed that Jax looked cool when he ran around like an idiot, while Keith said his performance was contagious.

Nick Fradiani was also safe. He sang "American Girl". Harry said he "was engaged the whole way through," and J.Lo thinks he has a "radio-ready voice." Keith chimed in, "This is precisely what you need to do - dead on."

For his second performance, Nick went with "Only the Good Die Young". Keith gave it a 10 out of 10. J.Lo liked it that Nick just stood up during the performance, but Harry thought Nick didn't deliver the song the way Billy Joel intended.

Quentin Alexander had his turn after Nick. He sang "Are You Gonna Go My Way". J.Lo said "the whole entire thing" worked although the pitch was all over the place. Harry praised Quentin's artistry and individuality, but he was more captivated by the band than he was by Quentin. Keith disagreed and said that he liked Quentin's laid back style.

Quentin later returned to sing "The Power of Silence". J.Lo called it "dramatic and moody." Harry and Keith also liked it that Quentin put his feelings into the song, but Harry added that Quentin needed to focus more on pitch.

Joey Cook and Rayvon Owen, meanwhile, were in jeopardy and had to sing for the Twitter Save. Joey went with "My Funny Valentine". Keith loved that she left her comfort zone, but wasn't sure that it was perfectly executed. J.Lo added that she wasn't moved by the performance.

Joey sang "Somebody to Love" for her second performance. J.Lo said this time she let it all out. Harry was impressed with her inventiveness and presentation, and Keith praised Joey and Jax for going to the real extreme edges.

Rayvon sang "Long Train Runnin". Keith said he wanted "a little bit more edge." Harry thought it's all about the song choice, but "Long Train Runnin" wasn't the perfect song for him.

Rayvon later sang "Always on My Mind", which suited his voice better. Keith called it beautiful, J.Lo said she had the goosies, and Harry called him a great ballad singer.

At the end of the day, Rayvon won the Twitter Save again, marking the third time in a row Rayvon landed in the bottom two but got saved by America. He joins the rest in the Top 6.
