Movie

The director, who was at one point set to direct 'Thor: The Dark World', has closed a deal with Warner Bros. to replace Michelle MacLaren.

AceShowbiz - "Wonder Woman" has found its new director just days after Michelle MacLaren's departure. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Patty Jenkins, who was at one point set to direct "Thor: The Dark World" for Marvel Studios, has closed a deal with Warner Bros to helm the female superhero flick.

Repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and Jackoway Tyerman, Patty is an experienced TV filmmaker and producer who most recently directed episodes of "The Killing" and "Betrayal". Her feature directorial debut was the critically acclaimed indie movie "Monster" which helped Charlize Theron win an Oscar for best acting.

Patty will be the first female director to helm a big project in Warner Bros.'s DC Cinematic Universe. She would also be the first female director on Marvel movies if she didn't left "Thor: The Dark World".

According to Variety, Michelle left "Wonder Woman" earlier this week due to creative differences with the studio. Sources tell the site that her departure "was only a minor speed bump, and production is still set to begin in the fall as originally planned."

Gal Gadot, who has been chosen as the female superheroine, will first make an appearance in upcoming movie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", due on March 25, 2016, before getting her own solo film, which is currently scheduled for release on June 23, 2017.
