Open Road Films has released a new photo for "Snowden", giving a first look at Shailene Woodley in the movie. The actress is featured walking side by side with lead actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the image.

In the film, Gordon-Levitt stars as National Security Agency contractor, Edward Snowden, while Woodley portrays his girlfriend, Lindsay Mills. Other stars supporting this drama are Nicolas Cage, Scott Eastwood, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, Joely Richardson and Timothy Olyphant.

The film about National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden is currently filming in Washington, D.C. with Oliver Stone serving behind the lens. The movie is slated to open wide in U.S. theaters on December 25.

Snowden, who has been granted political asylum in Russia, leaked classified documents detailing two NSA surveillance programs authorized by Congress. His action led media to either champion him as a whistleblower or label him as a traitor.

A year ago, two New York City-based artists with a history of pulling off notable public interventions had an idea for the Snowden tribute. Finally on April 6, Snowden had his 4-feet tall bronze bust erected in Brooklyn. It was placed on a war memorial in Fort Greene Park.
