Rumors have spreading like wild fire that Bradley Cooper is about to make his directorial debut with the third remake of the romantic drama "A Star Is Born." The actor is currently in negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct the feature film, which was put aside by Clint Eastwood back in 2011 for "Jersey Boys."

Nothing is official just yet, but should a deal be reached Cooper will also produce through his 22 Green banner alongside Jon Peters, Billy Gerber, and Basil Iwanyk, Deadline reports. Beyonce Knowles, who was set to star in the previously planned adaptation, is expected to star in the film currently in development. She dropped out of the scrapped project after becoming pregnant.

"A Star Is Born" has been adapted twice before. The first one was in 1954 starring Judy Garland, while the other was in 1976 starring Barbra Streisand. Based on William Wellman's 1937 film starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, it tells the story of "a fading movie star who helps a young aspiring actress while his own career spirals downward."

As for Cooper, the actor will next be seen starring in Cameron Crowe's romantic comedy "Aloha" opposite Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams. The film will be released on May 29 later this year.
