Chris Hemsworth has given a long interview about what fans can expect from "Avengers: Age of Ultron". Speaking to IGN during filming last year, the Thor depicter talked about various topics such as his character's role in the upcoming movie, battling the enemies and Scarlet Witch messing up with Avengers' head.
In the follow-up to "The Avengers", Thor is back to Midgard after telling Odin he was leaving as seen in "Thor: The Dark World". "We pick up with Thor having stayed on Earth from 'Thor: The Dark World'. He's part of the team. This is his home for the moment," the actor explained.
"The initial attack from Ultron is personal because it's at all the Avengers, and Thor then begins to see a bigger sort of picture here about what this threat could be potentially. And it begins to tie in to all of our films. It's hard to say too much without talking about what I can't talk about, but as I said it's a personal loss from the get go, but he sees the bigger picture," he added.
Thor is basically immortal and he may use his experience and knowledge in addition to physical strength as he helps the Earth's mightiest heroes fight their enemies. "[In terms of the story] It would be easy to fall into 'Oh, they're all just there because we're all contracted and it would look cool if we're standing in the same room,' " he said.
"So - and it was there from the beginning too - but I just sort of kept saying to [director Joss Whedon], 'Okay, what do I bring to the table though?' You know besides kind of Thor being a foot soldier and the muscle and in a bunch of fight scenes. Like what is his knowledge he can bring to it? And trying to incorporate the fact that he's from another world. What's his thousands of years of existence [bringing to this]? What information can I bring?"
Thor might be focused on Midgard, but he still has a connection to his home. "Halfway through [the story] Thor begins to have suspicions about what the bigger picture is here, you know? Who's involved. And he actually doesn't know by the end of it, but he starts to think something's not right here. [He thinks] 'This is all a little too convenient. Why has this happened?' Which you know, certainly points his focus back there [to Asgard]," the father of three teased.
Speaking of the new character Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen), Hemsworth said she would use her power to mess up with Thor and his teammates. "I think [the Avengers] will begin to have their fears held up in front of them. For Thor, I think it's a corruption of power. Trying to have the understanding that we're in this endless battle here and wondering when this is going to end, and how does it end. That's where he really starts to kind of move through the story. Once that dream occurs, he can see what's coming. It's a ticking clock," he shared.
Fans are currently waiting for the movie to be released. Arriving in the U.S. on May 1, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" will also feature new faces such as Paul Bettany (The Vision) and Aaron Johnson (Quicksilver) in addition to the original cast. Following the release of Iron Man character poster, three new posters for Thor, Nick Fury, Black Widow and Hulk have also been unveiled.
