Jason Jones who has been serving as a correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" for nearly ten years has announced his departure. On Tuesday, February 24, Jones took to Twitter to share the news, writing, "For 9 & 1/2 years, I have worked at one of the greatest TV shows of all time. But... It is time for me to go. That said, I am ecstatic to announce that I'm about to make another great show over @tbsveryfunny."
Following his exit, Jones is going to work on a new TBS comedy. He and his wife Samantha Bee, who is also a "Daily Show" correspondent, are serving as executive producers and wrote the pilot for the not-yet-titled sitcom which is planned to consist of ten episodes. Comedy Central, however, has confirmed that Bee is staying on "Daily Show".
Jones' upcoming comedy will focus on a family who embarks on a road trip to Florida that quickly goes awry. He additionally joins Natalie Zea, Ashley Gerasimovich and Liam Carroll as the cast members.
News about Jones' departure emerged after Jon Stewart recently announced he'd leave "Daily Show" later this year after 15-year stint. So far, a replacement is not yet announced.
