AceShowbiz - Stephen Colbert has landed a new TV gig while waiting for his "Late Show" debut. The TV host/comedian, who resigned from "The Colbert Report" in December last year, is set to guest star on "The Mindy Project".
Series star and creator Mindy Kaling broke the news by tweeting a picture of herself and Colbert inside a church. "Coming soon to #themindyproject: Father Michael O'Donnell," she captioned the image. Colbert, who has grown his beard since leaving the Comedy Central show, is seen sporting a priest's robe and collar.

Details of his role are not available though and it's unclear when and for how many episodes he will appear on the FOX sitcom. He joins "Orange Is the New Black" actress Laverne Cox and reality star Kris Jenner who have been booked for guest stints on the show.
Colbert is set to replace David Letterman as a "Late Show" host this fall.
"The Mindy Project" airs Tuesdays at 9.30 P.M. on FOX.
