The tour will open with the British star's appearance at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on May 2 and will conclude with a show at Milwaukee's Summerfest on July 3.

AceShowbiz - It's going to be another busy year for Ed Sheeran. Following the success of his latest album, 2014's "X", the British superstar announced during his recent visit to "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that he'd embark on a North American tour later this year.

Sheeran will kick off the tour with an appearance at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 2 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He'll then make stops in other cities across the U.S. and Canada including Austin, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Toronto, Los Angeles and Denver before wrapping things up with a gig at Milwaukee's Summerfest on July 3.

"It's exciting. I love coming back and touring America. The food's just everywhere. It's great," he told the chat show's host Ellen DeGeneres of playing North American shows again.

Pre-sale tickets will be available for select dates starting on February 16, while tickets for general public go on sale on February 20.

The tour announcement came just a day after Sheeran took the stage at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, February 8 for a performance of "Thinking Out Loud" with John Mayer. The 23-year-old gingerhead was also nominated in multiple categories at the event, including the coveted Album of the Year for "X". He, however, went home empty handed.
