O.T. Genasis' success didn't come easily. The rapper, born in Georgia, Atlanta and raised in Long Beach, California, has been in the game for quite a while. He first caught 50 Cent's attention wih the song "Jackie Chan" before getting signed to the hip-hop mogul's G-Unit Records.

After following up the track with a mixtape titled "Black Belt" in 2012, he was dropped out of label. He then met Busta Rhymes during one of his live gigs. "I was so turned up by what he displayed, not just as an MC but as a showman," Busta recalled getting attracted by Genasis' show in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

"He was jumping on the speakers. He damn near was swinging from the chandeliers in the b***h," he added. After several meetings, Busta signed Genasis to his Conglomerate Records.

Genasis eventually shot to stardom in 2014, following the arrival of "CoCo". The track, inspired by his love for cocaine, has been slowly climbing up the charts and is currently sitting at No. 20 on Billboard Hot 100. It has also peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and Rap Streaming Songs.

Its music video was originally released in October, but Genasis shot a new, upgraded visuals that was made available online in early January.
