The 57th Annual Grammy Awards has officially started. AC/DC kicked off the event, which is currently airing live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, with the live performance of their hits "Rock or Bust" and "Highway to Hell".

Afterwards, Sam Smith took the stage as he collected the Best New Artist Award that was presented by BFF Taylor Swift. "Oh, my God... I won a Grammy!" the British singer said upon picking up his trophy. He beat the likes of Iggy Azalea, HAIM, Bastille and Brandy Clark in the category.

Ariana Grande then appeared on the stage for "Just a Little Bit of Your Heart" before Pharrell Williams was announced as another winner during the telecast. The singer/rapper/producer took home the Best Pop Solo Performance Award for his smashing hit "Happy".

Just a few minutes after winning Best New Artist, Smith returned to the stage to accept the Pop Vocal Album Award for his debut set, "In the Lonely Hour". "Before I made this record I was doing everything to try get my music to the world," Smith said. "I tried to lose weight and was making awful music. It was only until I started to be myself that the music flowed."

More winners will be revealed as the 2015 Grammys unfolds.
