The Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele saga in "Fifty Shades of Grey" is set to continue with two more films. The sequels get a vote of confidence after the first film recorded the biggest ticket sales for non-sequel since "The Hunger Games" in 2012.
The sequel announcement was made at "Fifty Shades" fan screening event on Friday, February 6 at New York's Zeigfeld Theatre. The lead actors Jamie Dornan & Dakota Johnson, director Sam Taylor-Johnson, and author E.L. James were in attendance.
The follow-up movies are expected to be adapted from James' novels "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed". In the first film due for public screening on February 13, Dornan plays the kinky billionaire Grey and Johnson portrays his innocent coed target Steele.
The movie has been hit with controversy regarding the steamy BDSM plotline. In response to the critics who slammed her character as "weak," Johnson previously told Glamour magazine, "I think she's actually stronger than he is."
She elaborated, "Everything she does is her choice. And if I can be an advocate for women to do what they want with their bodies and not be ashamed of what they want, then I'm all for that."
Dornan, meanwhile, said of his character, "Christian was a massive challenge. ... You have to find something likable in every character you play. I like how driven Christian is. [Still], I don't think I would like him if he was a real dude and we met."
