Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's Origins in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Revealed in Prelude
Movie

The origin of the new characters featured in the upcoming movie is mentioned in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude - This Scepter'd Isle' which was just released digitally.

The origin of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" has been revealed in the prelude comic. The one-shot comic which was stealthily released in digital format is called "Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude - This Scepter'd Isle" and it features events leading to how the two characters posses their powers.

As reported by NewsArama, the story starts from Loki's scepter which is in possession of Baron Von Strucker as seen in the post-credit in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". Strucker then runs tests on some subjects in relation to the scepter in Sokovia. The experiments were conducted to "unlock" super powers the subjects might have. Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda and Aaron Johnson's Pietro are among the test subjects.

The term the doctor used in the comic, "unlock," suggests that the people possess inherent power. It is similar to the concept of "Inhumans" in which their power is unleashed following exposure to Terrigent Bomb.

The follow-up to "The Avengers" is coming to U.S. theaters on May 1. However, fans across the Atlantic will have the chance to watch the highly-anticipated movie eight days prior as it is set for release in the U.K. and Ireland on Thursday, April 23.
