A new report from "Suicide Squad" casting has emerged, suggesting that Karl Urban is in contention to play Rick Flag, the leader of the DC supervillain team, after Tom Hardy left the project earlier this month. According to the Monday, January 26 report by JoBlo, the "Star Trek Into Darkness" actor is among candidates for the role.

Urban was previously linked to a possible villainous role in "Aquaman". However, the report said that the role would depend on which script they use for that film.

JoBlo also gave some info regarding other characters which possibly would make appearances in the movie. The production team reportedly is also searching for an actor to play Rick Flag's father and currently is considering Ed Harris and Max Martini.

Other characters, The Thinker and General Sam Lane a.k.a. Lois Lane's father, allegedly are set to appear. Geoffrey Rush passed on the Thinker role, while Gary Sinise is linked to the latter. Joe Manganiello was said to be first consideration for Deathstroke, but Jason Clarke is also up for the role. Deathstroke, according to the report, is not a bodyguard as previously reported but a "hired assassain that is competing with the Suicide Squad."

The report additionally gave more details regarding The Joker. The Batman villain allegedly "is scarred all over his body because of his battles with Batman." The character played by Jared Leto in the upcoming David Ayer movie "plays mind games with people and twists [their] minds" and "everyone is afraid of him."

Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne will play Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Boomerang and Enchantress respectively. Also starring Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, the movie targets August 5, 2016 release.
