Newly crowned Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega opens up about winning the title in a new interview with PEOPLE. "When we participate in a pageant we are examples to young and teenage girls," she says, "It's very delicate."

The 22-year-old beauty adds, "I want to demonstrate that it is not the most important thing to be beautiful and have a glamorous life. It's about feeling beautiful. Become an intelligent, professional, hardworking woman with a great heart. That is the example I want to set."

Paulina, who represented Colombia at the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant held on Sunday, January 25, is excited to live in New York City. "My whole life I have dreamed to live in New York City and now I am living the dream," she shares, "I love to walk the streets and see the movements and the vibe of the city."

In another interview with HuffPost Voces just days before winning Miss Universe, Paulina was asked about her opinion on plastic surgery within the competition. "I agree, but not when they use this new technology, this new tool excessively," she replies, as quoted by The Huffington Post, "I think that you should always retain your original body, because we are all born beautiful." She added that she didn't undergo any cosmetic procedures.
