Pharrell Williams is heading to Springfield in an upcoming episode of "The Simpsons". The Grammy Award-winning producer is tapped to guest star in the February 8 outing of the long-running animated series and will appear as himself.
The episode titled "Walking Big & Tall" has a plot which is inspired by a true story about a composer hired to write a city-pride song for Milwaukee but then shopped the same song to other cities.
According to EW, on the comedy series, "Springfield learns that its official ditty is actually a carbon copy of many other cities'." Lisa tries to come to the rescue and "Pharrell offers to write a new anthem for the town," executive producer Al Jean reveals.
Pharrell joins Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Will Forte and many others who have been announced as guest stars for season 26 of "The Simpsons".
The TV gig aside, the "Come Get It Bae" singer is teaming up with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore to bring Live Earth Concert this year. The festival, which is revived eight years after the first one took place in 2007, will take place on June 18 in Paris, New York, Brazil, South Africa, China and Australia in an attempt to urge world leaders to adopt a new climate accord at UN climate change conference in Paris.
Pharrell serves as a creative director, with more than 100 artists around the globe expected to take part in the 24-hour event. It's unknown if the lead vocalist of N.E.R.D will perform at the event.
