The 'Mad Mad: Fury Road' actor withdraws from the antihero movie due to scheduling conflicts, prompting Warner Bros. to approach the 'Nightcrawler' star.

Rumor has it, Tom Hardy has dropped out of Warner Bros.' "Suicide Squad". The "Mad Max: Fury Road" actor was initially expected to play Rick Flag. Now that he is no longer among the cast, Jake Gyllenhaal is allegedly eyed to take on the role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hardy is forced to exit the antihero film due to scheduling conflicts. The "Locke" star is currently shooting Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's "The Revenant" which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio. It may not have finished when "Suicide Squad" goes into production in April in Toronto.
The movie centers on a group of DC comics super villains who are given a chance at redemption by taking part in dangerous missions for the government with Rick Flag as the leader. Directed by David Ayer, the flick is eyeing an August 5, 2016 release.
Jared Leto is tapped as The Joker, Will Smith is cast as Deadshot, Margot Robbie will star as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney will play Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne will portray Enchantress. Viola Davis is set to play Amanda Waller, the formidable agent who runs the covert team.
Jake Gyllenhaal recently starred in the critically-acclaimed "Nightcrawler". The "Prisoners" hunk previously worked with Ayer in 2012's police thriller "End of Watch". He is currently doing Broadway show "Constellations" which runs until mid-March.
