Naya Rivera returned to "The View" on Wednesday, January 14 and used the opportunity to address controversy surrounding her remarks about "white people showering." "It was supposed to be a joke. I apologize if anyone was offended," the "Glee" star said.

"Yesterday we were talking about a study that says you're supposed to shower once or twice every three days, which I had an opinion on it that was supposed to be a joke. Apparently it didn't go over so well," she explained. "However, I'm very excited that it sparked a big conversation about how many times you should shower."

During her previous appearance, Rivera made comment that "white people shower a lot more than ethnics" after host Nicolle Wallace said she showered three times a day. On Wednesday, Wallace joked she also received feedback for her comment "mostly from the OCD crowd."

"They stood with me as a three times a day showerer," Wallace said, before defending Rivera. "I actually thought you were more on a reasoned side of this so I'd like to defend you today. I'm white, so she was talking about me, if anyone missed that, as I shower three times a day."

Guest host Mario Cantone also cracked a joke on the topic. "I went into your dressing room today and I grabbed you and we got naked, we got into a shower, and I scrubbed her back furiously," she quipped. "Back off Naya. She's very clean."
