The former fiance of Katie Holmes proposes to his longtime girlfriend in Venice Beach after more than three years of dating.

Chris Klein is taking his relationship with Laina Rose Thyfault to the next level. The "American Pie" actor popped the question to his girlfriend after dating her for more than three years. "Chris and Laina are very happy and look forward to celebrating their engagement over the holidays," his rep says.
Klein, 35, and Thyfault, 29, first met at a mutual friend's wedding. The "Wilfred" star proposed to her in Venice Beach over the weekend. It will be the first marriage for Klein. He was previously engaged to Katie Holmes. They called it off in 2005.
They haven't set a date for their wedding, but it won't likely be long. "Neither one is interested in a long engagement," a friend of Klein's spills to Us Weekly, "so they're shooting for a summer 2015 wedding." The groom-to-be gushed on Twitter, "Thanks for all the groovy support and love today y'all. Laina and I are so grateful to all of you."
