Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons have booked residency on "Fargo" for season 2. The Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy and the "Friday Night Lights" alum are officially announced to star in the new installment of FX's anthology series.

Golden Globe-nominated actress Dunst will portray Peggy Blomquist, a small-town beautician with big city dreams who is trying to figure out who she really is. Plemons will play her husband, Ed, a butcher's assistant, who wants to be supportive of his wife's self-discovery, even if he doesn't quite understand it.

This will be Dunst's first TV series regular role after previously starring on TV movies like "Tower of Terror" and "Fifteen and Pregnant" as well as appearing as guest star on TV series such as "ER" and "Portlandia".

Previously, it was reported that former "Burn Notice" star Jeffrey Donovan had landed a role as Dodd and "Parks and Recreation" actor Nick Offerman was offered a role named Carl, but neither of them has been confirmed to join the cast.

The second season of the Noah Hawley-created series has been described as a cross between the original film, the Coen brothers' "Miller's Crossing" and "The Man Who Wasn't There". It is set in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Luverne, Minnesota and focus on the younger version of Keith Carradine's character Lou Solverson, who just returned from the Vietnam War.

"It's not a repeat, it's a new story with new characters," producer Noah Hawley said at the TCA summer press tour in July, adding that it would still tell "the history of true crime in the Midwest" and there would be some scenes set in Luverne, Minn. and Fargo.

The 10-episode second season will begin filming in January in Calgary for a 2015 premiere.
