AceShowbiz - Prince William and Kate Middleton landed in John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on Sunday, December 7 at around 4:30 P.M. ET. Shortly after, they were whisked away to Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan's Upper East Side where they were greeted by fans.

William wore a classic black suit paired with a navy necktie. Kate, meanwhile, donned a burgundy Seraphine coat over her dress, black stockings and a pair of black gloves. The Duchess of Cambridge completed her look with a black clutch and black ankle boots.

"It's good to be here," William told Giovanni Beretta, the managing director at Carlyle Hotel, before he and Kate were escorted to their suite room which has "wide window views of Central Park." The hotel was Princess Diana's favorite during her visit to the U.S. in the '90s.

The Empire State Building's official Twitter handle posted a picture of the building being lit up in red, white and blue colors of the Union Jack along with caption, "We welcome Their #Royal Highnesses The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge by sparkling in red, white & blue. #RoyalVisitUSA."

Later in the evening, the royal couple will attend a private reception for the American friends of the Royal Foundation. On Monday, William will travel to Washington, D.C. where he will meet President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Kate, meanwhile, will visit the Northside Center for Child Development in Harlem before reuniting with William to attend a Brooklyn Nets basketball game at the Barclays Center.

The royal couple's visit will be concluded with a visit to the National September 11th Memorial Museum on Tuesday.
