Jessie J on 'The Boy Is Mine' Remake With Ariana Grande: It's Not Happening

Fans of the classic by Brandy and Monica previously voiced their disagreement when Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins revealed his plan to have the 'Bang Bang' collaborators record a new version.

AceShowbiz - Fans of Brandy and Monica's "The Boy Is Mine" can now relax after Jessie J made it clear that she wouldn't be remaking the classic. Many voiced their disagreement when a report recently emerged suggesting that the British singer would reunite with her "Bang Bang" collaborator Ariana Grande to record a new version.

"It's not true - neither of us have agreed," Jessie told U.K.'s The Mirror earlier this week. "Sadly, people are believing it. I spoke to Brandy and I was like, 'No it's not happening.' Monica and Brandy are the best."

The rumor about the remake was started by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, who produced the original "The Boy Is Mine". Earlier this month, he revealed to Hits Daily Double that he was doing a "very special project" for his upcoming 20th anniversary celebration.

"Next year is my 20-year anniversary and I'm doing a very special project [with] some originals as well as reimagined hits," the producer said. "So for example, I'll do the 'The Boy Is Mine' with Ariana and Jessie J."
