Paul Greengrass has a new project under his belt. Deadline reports that the Academy Award-nominated director is set to sit behind the lens for an adaptation of George Orwell's novel "1984" for Sony Pictures. Scott Rudin and Gina Rosenblum will produce, while James Graham writes the script.

"1984", published in 1948, tells the story of the future world where people are facing omnipresent surveillance by an entity called "Big Brother". The book was first adapted for screen in 1956 with Edmond O'Brien, Michael Redgrave and Jan Sterling among the cast members. Another adaptation was released in 1984. Starring John Hurt, the flick had Michael Radford as director.

Greengrass and Rudin previously worked together in "Captain Phillips". Their next project together is Martin Luther King movie "Memphis". The director will also work with Matt Damon in the next installment of "The Bourne Identity" movie, "Bourne 5".
