According to Deadline, the Russos have impressed Marvel so much lately that the studio is willing to give them the directing posts of "Avengers: Infinity War Part I" and "Avengers: Infinity War Part II". They are also already locked to direct "Captain America: Civil War", which is a mini-Avengers film in a way, showing Marvel's complete trust of the sibling's work.

The two "Infinity War" installments will be shot back-to-back and are expected to wrap up the threads regarding Thanos and the Infinity Gems. Marvel has secured May 4, 2018 for the first part and May 3, 2019 for the second part. Whedon tackles the second "Avengers" film, "Avengers: Age of Ultron", which hits U.S. theaters May 1, 2015 but he's not expected to extend his contract.
