Movie

The project, featuring voices of Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming among others, is not a sequel to 'Frozen' after all.

Lucas Film announced that its latest project "Strange Magic" will be released as early as this coming January. Inspired by "A Midsummer Night's Dream", the film is an animated musical featuring voices of theater A-listers such as Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming.

"Strange Magic" is a madcap fairytale musical featuring "popular songs from the past six decades." It tells "the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion."

George Lucas provided the story while the team behind "Rango" brings to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects. Directed by Gary Rydstrom, the film also features voices of Evan Rachel Wood, Maya Rudolph, and Alfred Molina.

Rydstrom wrote the screenplay with David Berenbaum ("Elf") and Irene Mecchi ("The Lion King"). Music and composition were provided by Marius de Vries ("Moulin Rouge")

"Strange Magic" will be unleashed in theaters January 23, 2015 via Touchstone Pictures. Last week, the project was making a buzz as a "Frozen (2013)" sequel after Disney registered the URL. The words "strange magic", after all, were referenced twice by the popular animated movie's characters, Grand Pabbie and Duke of Weselton.
