In the whimsical musical fantasy Strange Magic, directed by Gary Rydstrom, a vibrant fairy kingdom is thrown into chaos when a powerful love potion brewed by the Sugar Plum Fairy, played by Kristin Chenoweth, falls into the wrong hands. The story centers on Marianne, a fierce and independent fairy princess voiced by Evan Rachel Wood, who has sworn off love after being betrayed by her charming but shallow fiancé, Roland, played by Sam Palladio. When a bumbling ogre named Bog, voiced by Alan Cumming, steals the potion to use for his own purposes, a magical and comedic chain reaction ensues, causing unlikely creatures to fall head over heels for one another. As Marianne and Bog clash over the potion’s misuse, they discover that true love is far more complex than any spell can create. With a lively soundtrack of classic pop songs and a colorful cast of characters including a mischievous imp and a wisecracking elf, this animated family adventure explores themes of self-discovery, forgiveness, and the unpredictable nature of romance.
