The 'Fast and Furious 7' director is revealed by New Line President as a contender to helm one of Warner Bros.' superhero films.

AceShowbiz - One of the upcoming DC movies that haven't found a director may have gotten one. According to New Line President and CCO Toby Emmerich, "The Conjuring" helmer, James Wan, who will return for the sequel "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" is eyed to shepherd a superhero flick for Warner Bros.

"New Line has always been a big believer in great filmmakers emerging from the horror genre, and he has the potential to grow like Frank Darabont did, from writing 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 3' to writing and directing 'The Shawshank Redemption'," Emmerich says.

The exec continues, "James will make an important movie for New Line and Warner Bros or DC, and that is definitely part of the plan, and a reason for bringing him into the family. He's the only overall director with a deal here, because we see him as a class of one."

Wan's next film is "Fast and Furious 7" due April 3, 2015. He once said it was the hardest movie he's ever made. The film came to a screeching halt due to Paul Walker's sudden death. It later resumed production by having the actor's brothers Cody and Caleb as stand-ins on the set and their faces being altered during post-production. Among the cast is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who is coincidentally cast to play Shazam for WB.

"Shazam" is due 2019, and no director is attached. The position behind the lens is also still vacant for "Wonder Woman" (2017) starring Gal Gadot, "The Flash" (2018) starring Ezra Miller, "Aquaman" (2018) starring Jason Momoa, "Cyborg" (2020) starring Ray Fisher, and "Green Lantern (2020)".

Zack Snyder ("Man of Steel", "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice") is tapped to helm "Justice League Part One" (2017) and "Justice League Part Two" (2019), while David Ayer ("Fury") is hired to helm "Suicide Squad" (2016).
