James Cameron Hints at Rebooting 'Terminator' Franchise
Movie

The 'Avatar' helmer talks about the future of his 'Terminator' saga, teasing that 'it might be fun to completely re-invent the franchise.'

James Cameron did not get involved in the new installment of "Terminator", but he may revisit the franchise for a reboot. Speaking to Empire, the director who helmed the first two movies reveals his interest to "re-invent" the cyborg saga in the future.

"I haven't really thought that far ahead yet. I've got plenty of time to think about it. It might be fun to completely re-invent the franchise," the helmer states. "A lot has to do with what happens with it in the meantime, people may have Terminator fatigue."

Of the upcoming movie "Terminator Genisys" which has Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his role as the killing machine, he says, "I'm hoping it's great. I'd like them to get it right, and based on the script that I read there's a pretty good chance that it could."

"It's like being a grandparent, the kids come over and you can send them back! When I walked away from the franchise, I had to do it with the sense that I can invest in emotion," he continues. "To me, it's all upside, because if it's good, it's good for my friend Laeta (writer Laeta Kalogridis) and if it's not good? It doesn't bother me personally."

"Genisys" will hit U.S. theaters on July 1, 2015. Directed by Alan Taylor, it stars Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke as Sarah and John Connor. Jai Courtney who plays Kyle Reese recently said that the movie was neither a sequel nor reboot.
