Nicolas Cage Is CIA Agent With Dementia in 'Dying of the Light' Trailer
Movie

The doomed movie will finally release a version that producers approve of director Paul Schrader's work.

In "Dying of the Light", Nicolas Cage is a veteran CIA suffering from dementia just as his old adversary returns. Based on the first trailer of the action thriller, Cage faces a hard time in chasing his sworn enemy especially after receiving opposition from within the agency's walls.

Evan Lake (Cage) has been ordered to retire. But when his protege (Anton Yelchin) uncovers evidence that Lake's nemesis, the terrorist Banir (Alexander Karim), has resurfaced, Lake goes rogue, embarking on a perilous, intercontinental mission to eliminate him.

Paul Schrader wrote the script. Nicolas Winding Refn originally was the director before he shifted position to executive producer. Harrison Ford was attached in Cage's role at that time but the actor and the director had creative differences that led to the project being stalled. Schrader then took over the directing duty, casting Cage on the way.

However, the internal problem did not stop there. Schrader was in conflict with the film's producers regarding the film's early version. The producers ordered a re-edit without Schrader's consent, resulting in a final cut that sees only remains of Schrader's work.

"Dying of the Light" hits limited theaters in the U.S. December 5.
