"Uncle Buck" is getting a second chance to live on television. A new small-screen take on the 1989 John Hughes comedy movie starring John Candy is currently being developed, this time at ABC.

Former "MADtv" writers Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley are making a multi-camera comedy based on the classic film for Universal TV. Will Packer ("No Good Deed") will executive produce the project along with Cragg and Bradley.

The original movie centers on a childish man, played by Candy, who suddenly has to take care of his brother's unruly kids, played by Jean Louisa Kelly, Macaulay Culkin and Gaby Hoffmann. It was a hit, grossing nearly $80 million. The new TV show will still have the same premise.
