"Rush Hour" TV remake has found a home on CBS. The network has nabbed the small-screen adaptation of the blockbuster comedy movie franchise with a pilot-production commitment.

The hourlong action comedy hails from "Cougar Town" co-creator Bill Lawrence, Blake McCormick and Warner Bros. Television. Brett Ratner, who directed the original movie, will executive produce the TV project along with Arthur Sarkissian and Jeff Ingold.

Similar to the comedy films starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, the TV adaptation will center on a by-the-book Hong Kong police officer who is assigned to a case in L.A., where he's forced to work with a cocky black LAPD officer who has no interest in a partner.

The first "Rush Hour" movie was released in 1998 and followed by two sequels in 2001 and 2007. The three films combined have grossed nearly $850 million worldwide. Chan said in August that he's interested to reprise his role for a fourth film.
