The shows on Diana Krall's tour scheduled for this fall have all been scrapped. The singer and pianist announced the cancellation and apologized to fans in a statement posted on her Facebook page on Thursday, September 25.
In the statement, Krall explained that she needed time to recuperate from a severe case of pneumonia. The tour, which was supposed to open on November 7 in Phoenix, Arizona, will be rescheduled for next year. New dates will be announced soon. Ticket holders will automatically be issued a refund for their ticket purchases.
The illness also prompted the 49-year-old musician to push back the release date of her new album, "Wallflower". Originally planned to come out on October 21, the set will now arrive on February 3, 2015.
"I'm deeply saddened that I will have to postpone the release of my new album 'Wallflower' and the 'Wallflower U.S Fall Tour' until next year," Krall expressed her disappointment over the cancellation. "I've been battling a case of pneumonia and am under doctor's orders to rest for the next few months in order to regain my strength and good health."
"Performing is both a privilege and a joy for me," she continued. "When I go out on stage I want to be able to give it everything. Taking this time to rest and recuperate will allow me to do that. It is frustrating to be so close to the record release and have to delay but I am very proud of this record and want to be able to give you all my very best when we finally present this music to you. Thank you so much for your understanding."
