Roberto Orci is no longer involved in the making of "Power Rangers" reboot, a joint project between Lionsgate and Haim Saban due July 22, 2016. Deadline reports that the producer/screenwriter is forced to leave the project due to a scheduling conflict.
Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz ("X-Men: First Class") are tapped to write the script for the remake. Orci was originally set to serve as executive producer and help Miller and Stentz develop the story, but his commitment to "Star Trek 3" stands in the way.
Orci who penned the first two installments of the rebooted "Star Trek" franchise has been promoted to sit behind the lens for the threequel. The film is slated for 2016 release without any exact date, but Zachary Quinto recently said filming was expected to begin soon.
"I think it's on the horizon," the Spock depicter said during a visit to "Today" show, adding that "things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be in production sometime in the next six months."
