A man previously fooled Beverly Hills police when he claimed to be the former Stone Temple Pilots singer after getting busted for shoplifting and possession of methamphetamines.

Scott Weiland's impersonator, who claimed to be the singer after he was arrested by Beverly Hills police, is revealed to be Jason Michael Hurley. According to TMZ, before Jason was arrested, he boasted about his attempt to make a cover band called Stone Tempered Pilots and police believed he was Scott. Police later discovered Jason's real identity through FBI fingerprint analysis and told the site on August 21 night.
In previous news, Scott denied he was in jail by posting a video on the same day on Facebook as a proof that he was "locked up ... in the studio" instead of being in custody. He said in the video, "A nice piece of fiction from TMZ saying that I was in jail and have been for a month. I've actually been touring, writing and recording my new album, at the studio we're in right now, a Los Angeles studio."
He continued, "So all I have to say to our fans is whether you find it funny, or interesting, or whether you're sad, don't worry, don't fret. It's a lie." He also planned to take legal actions against the site, saying, "TMZ, you'll be hearing from my attorneys. Thank you."
TMZ was the one who first published the news on early Thursday. The site previously claimed that the 46-year-old singer was arrested for stealing razors and possession of methamphetamines in late July.
