AceShowbiz - Edgar Wright is no longer attached to "Ant-Man" after years of commitment to the Marvel movie. The fallout allegedly happened in the last two weeks when the director and the studio experienced differences in the creative direction.
In a statement released on Friday, May 23, both parties said, "the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their vision of the film." They insisted that the split was "amicable." Marvel said the planned July 17, 2015 release date would not be affected and a new director would be announced soon.
Wright signed up as the director of the film three years ago and pushed back the schedule to direct "The World's End". He had been working on the project since 2006, writing and re-writing the script with Joe Cornish and casting the leads such as Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly. He wowed the audience of 2012 San Diego Comic-Con by debuting some early "Ant-Man" footage.
"Ant-Man" follows biochemist Dr. Hank Pym who uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects.
