The band has canceled shows in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kiev which were originally slated to take place on July 31, August 1 and August 3, respectively.

The National has canceled their plan to play concerts in Russia and Ukraine because of the political unrest in the two countries. The rock band announced the cancellation in a statement posted on their Facebook page on Tuesday, April 22.
"Due to the ongoing political crisis in the region, we are sad to report that we have decided to cancel our shows in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev this summer," the group wrote. "Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase."
"We remain hopeful of coming to play for you in the future and we sincerely hope this current instability resolves in a positive, democratic and peaceful way," the band continued. "Take care of yourselves and we hope to see you soon."
The National was supposed to play shows in St. Petersburg on July 31, Moscow on August 1 and Kiev on August 3.
The band is currently on their ongoing tour in the U.S. to promote their latest album, "Trouble Will Find Me". They will visit Europe later this year for several summer festival and concert dates.
