The indie drama which marks the directorial debut of actor John Slattery will hit theaters on May 9 before getting a video-on-demand release.

AceShowbiz - "God's Pocket", the last big-screen project that Philip Seymour Hoffman completed, has locked a release date. IFC Films which acquired the distribution rights is set to release it in limited theaters across the U.S. on May 9 before making it available on VOD a week later.

Supported by Christina Hendricks, Richard Jenkins, and John Turturro, the indie drama made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in mid-January. Hoffman came to the event to help promote the pic. It was just two weeks before the actor died of an overdose on February 2.

The film marks the directorial debut of "Mad Men" star John Slattery. Adapted from a book of the same name by Pete Dexter, it is set in the gritty blue-collar neighborhood where a man tried to cover up a construction "accident" that killed his stepson.

Hoffman will also appear in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" to reprise his role as Plutarch Heavensbee. When he died, he was still halfway through filming his scenes.
