The 'Twilight Saga' actor calls Mel Gibson a 'genius' as he reveals 'Braveheart' inspiration for his performance in 'The Legend of Hercules'.

AceShowbiz - Kellan Lutz reveals his inspiration for his hero role in "The Legend of Hercules". Watching Mel Gibson's epic war drama "Braveheart" helps him get into his character, so he says in an interview with Press Association.

Calling Gibson a "genius," the "Twilight Saga" hunk dishes on, "For Hercules, I watched 'Braveheart' every single day on set because he had some of the most epic battle scenes and battle yells so it was fun talking to him about that."

Lutz and Gibson will share screen in "The Expendables 3". The "Java Heat" star sings high praise for his co-star, "I had a scene with him and he is just the genius to work with. I've been a huge fan of him."

He also praises another co-star Jason Statham, "Jason's a beast. He's a stuntman so he knows how to take care of himself," he says. "He went into saviour mode and wanted to take care of everyone. He wasn't concerned about himself. Hats off to Jason."

Landing a role in Sylvester Stallone's movie is a dream job, Lutz says. "I got to work with all my heroes. I love action movies so working with Sly, Statham, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Arnold [Schwarzenegger], Harrison Ford - what a dream job," he explains.

Before "Expendables 3" arrives in theaters next summer, fans can catch Lutz's performance as demi-God in "The Legend of Hercules" formerly titled "Hercules: The Legend Begins". Exploring the origin of titular hero, it will be released Stateside on January 10, 2014. Meanwhile, a new trailer for the movie has arrived.
