AceShowbiz - As it has been projected, Lady GaGa's "ARTPOP" spends its first week on Billboard 200 chart at No. 1. Nielsen SoundScan reports that the Mother Monster's third studio album dethrones last week's first placer, Eminem's "MMLP2", after selling 258,000 copies.
"ARTPOP" posts the third-largest sales week for a woman in 2013, following Katy Perry's "Prism" (286,000) and Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" (270,000). It also marks GaGa's second album to top the chart. Her previous record, 2011's "Born This Way", entered the top slot after selling 1.1 million copies in its opening week.
Falling from the top spot to No. 2 is Eminem's "MMLP2", which has sold 210,000 copies in its second week. Pop hits compilation "Now 48" enters the chart at No. 3 with 114,000. "Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas", a holiday album by the cast of reality TV series "Duck Dynasty", slips one rung to No. 4 with 66,000.
The Beatles' "On Air - Live at the BBC Volume 2" arrives at No. 7 with 37,000. The new album by the legendary British band is a sequel to "Live at the BBC" album, which debuted and peaked at No. 3 after being released in 1994.
R&B singer/songwriter Jhene Aiko's "Sail Out (EP)" starts at No. 8 with 34,000, while her frequent collaborator Drake has his "Nothing Was the Same" slipping to No. 9 with 33,000. Dipping to No. 10 this week is Lorde, whose "Pure Heroine" has sold additional 32,000.
