As the musical guest on the show's season premiere, the Montreal-based group performs 'Reflektor' and 'Afterlife'.

AceShowbiz - Grammy Award-winning indie rock band Arcade Fire was the musical guest when "Saturday Night Live" kicked off its 39th season on September 28. The Win Butler-fronted group performed two tracks from their upcoming fourth studio album "Reflektor", their similarly-titled lead single and another song "Afterlife".

The seven-man band made sure their guest appearance on the hit late-night comedy sketch show would be remembered for a long time, grabbing viewers' attentions with their eccentric performances. For "Reflector", they exhibited the same broken glass and mirror-filled concept they had for its Anton Corbijn-directed black-and-white visuals that they premiered earlier this month.

For "Afterlife", they shone bright in their white outfits, with Butler putting on some dark eye make-up across his face as if wearing an eye mask. The two live renditions were later followed by three more tracks from their album which they performed on their 30-minute post-"SNL" NBC concert special.

The band began their 3-song "Here Comes the Night Time" special with the song of the same title off their new album. This was followed by David Bowie-inspired "We Exist" and finally ended with the new wave-sounding "Normal People" that flipped into a hard rock riff.

Celebrity cameos filled the half-hour spectacle. They included Bill Hader, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Ben Stiller, Bono, Rainn Wilson, Aziz Ansari, Eric Wareheim and James Franco.
